Just a quick word to let you know that the next group of Mission 1:27 travelers will leave on Thursday, March 26 (tomorrow) to journey to Russia to visit our friends and family in Slobodskoy. We have nine travelers this time with some defining characteristics:
- Five adults – four return visitors and one newbie
- Four teenagers giving up their Spring Break (two without their parents)
- Two pastors
- A couple of bald dudes
- A world-recognized international jump roper
- A captain of the lacrosse team
- Two musicians
- A few tattoos
- Nine passionate pilgrims waiting to see what God has in store for them
The journey starts at RDU where we will depart to the Big Apple (which is not Atlanta as the map shows but that’s a minor detail). After a layover at JFK, we will take the 10+ hour trek to Moscow where we will get to see the Kremlin, St. Basil’s Cathedral and Red Square. Then comes a 14 hour overnight train ride to Kirov, where we will meet with some of our orphanage graduates at the Ministry Center. After some lunch and supply shopping, we will take a one hour bus ride to Slobodskoy where we will shower and prepare to great the kids and staff at the orphanage.
Total travel time? 40 hours. Memories made? Priceless.
Stay tuned to this blog over the next week as we share our observations, perspectives and insights as to what God is doing to us and through us on this trip. Thanks to everyone for your prayers and support.
Blessings to all.
