Just a quick update to let everyone know that we have arrived safely in Slobodskoy! Our travel here was uneventful, other than some heavy rain in Moscow that made moving 25+ bags a little challenge. The train ride was another highlight as nine of us gathered in one room to break bread and enjoy each other’s company. We are well fed, well rested and about to leave for the orphanage.
For those who have been here before, two quick updates you will enjoy:
- There have been improvements to the hotel, resulting in GREAT water pressure and HOT water. What a great way to end our 40 hour journey!
- They now have WiFi at the hotel, too! I am sure we will use most of the available bandwidth, but this will allow for regular blog updates and an occasional email home.
We are overcome with excitement as we are about to board the bus at 12:50 pm Moscow time. Look for more updates so – and keep praying for us, the kids, the staff and our interpreters.

Your bright faces will bring the light of Christ into the orphanage and bring hope to the staff and the “glue” of love, joy and good news to this newly combined group of children. Be patient, for we know God’s power can do what we cannot. So excited to hear news of your day! K
Picturing here in late afternoon Monday that you are with the grateful and smiling children and staff, already forgetting the long journey to get to this special place for all of you. Blessings to all as you continue this journey of sharing love and laughter, joy and good times. Trusting all will stay healthy and strong. So grateful for these updates.
